The American Education System is Not Broken - It is working as designed?

My friends, I am diligently researching and documenting how our American educational system was conceived, and evolved into its current state.  I am amazed every day as I realize more and more, that my first assumption was comletely wrong.  I thought the system was broken - after all the countless reports and studies that have been done that have said how poorly it works, that no one could ever have intended for it to perform like this!  But I was wrong - I am fascinated and horrified to find that each piece of legislation and each resulting reform built out the system, deliberately, to do exactly what it does.  I will write more as I finish my research, but I wanted to let you know that there is a lot of work to do.  If you care, and you know something about learning and teaching, after all, we all do...we will need to work together to reinvent the system - not build on it.  Two important thoughts about it: 1)educators have the answers, so we need to listen to them, and 2) the language and concepts of ethics need to be a part of the solution.  I hoe you are out there hoping as I do that we can make it better for the children in our country and around the world.

Regards, Rosanna
